This recipe calls for two kinds of berry dressing that you can choose from to toss with serving your rich salad. I love Yee Sang Salad because it is fresh, delicious, and quite healthy.

If you have a grater, your dressing is just as delicious. This is a traditional Yee Sang platter made with daikon (white radish), sweet turnips, salmon, carrots, peanuts, crackers, pickled ginger, and assorted colorful vegetables, some Condiments like sesame and ground peanuts and a sticky sweet chutney are also used to serve it.

Yee Sang Recipe: A Step-By-Step Guide

Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Continue to deep fry the wonton wrappers cut in small batches until golden and crisp. (for 20-25 seconds). Remove from oil with a mesh skimmer and drain on a paper towel.

Arrange all the salad ingredients and the fried wonton wrappers by color on a large plate, placing the salmon pieces last. Then sprinkle the vegetables with coriander, sesame seeds, peanuts, and spices. Now cut the wonton wrappers into strips.

Then cut the jicama, daikon, and carrot into thin long strips. Keep the chopped vegetables separately. Do not mix them all. Place the smoked salmon in a small bowl. Then place the bowl in the center of a large plate.

Mix all dressing ingredients well in a small pan over medium heat. Keep stirring until the sauce is well mixed and thickened enough. Place all the ingredients for the sauce in a bottle and shake well to combine. Delicious saang is ready to serve with chutney and enjoy.

1 1 packet of dumpling wrappers.
2 2 pounds taro (peeled).
3 5 to 6 drops each of red and green food coloring.
4 Enough vegetable oil for deep frying.
5 1 small Jicama/Bunkang (peeled).
6 9 oz daikon (peeled).
7 3 medium carrots (peeled).
8 1 small pomelo (peeled and broken into small pieces).
9 1 cup cayenne pepper (stems removed).
10 12 to 13 slices of ginger (cut into strips).
11 1 teaspoon five-spice powder.
12 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds.
13 2 packets of smoked salmon/lox.
14 1 lime or 1 tablespoon lime juice.
15 1 cup sugar plum sauce.
16 1 tablespoon soy sauce.
17 3 tablespoons of sesame oil.
18 3 tablespoons of warm water.
