Ube Cake Recipe: Yam Cake AND Delicious

Ube Cake Recipe is a traditional Filipino sweet dish. Which Purple is made using yams. This naturally purple sweet potato is heavily used in Filipino cuisine due to its beauty and is available in many other forms such as dehydrated powder and pulp extract. The cake itself is typically either chiffon or sponge and can be made in a cupcake, layer cake, or Swiss roll style and then filled with a thick layer of buttercream.

Trying this UB cake recipe took me several tries to get a perfect texture. There’s nothing cuter than a purple tub-looking cake with just a hint of sub in it.

 What Is A Ube Cake 

Ubi Jam Cake is full of ube flavor. Ubi pairs wonderfully with coconut, so my cake is a traditional cake that uses butter, coconut milk, and ubi extract to make an easy-sourcing recipe. Then I layer it with my Italian buttercream and macaroni strings. Delicious and enticing layers, which add a wonderful mouthfeel to tender cakes and silky buttercream. Ube Cake Composition

In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the oil, egg yolk, milk, and ubi extract. Beat the egg whites in a large bowl until foamy, mix it in the cream of tartar, and slowly add the sugar. Continue beating until a stiff paste forms. Add 1/4 of the egg whites to lighten the mixture. Gently fold in the rest in two equal parts until completely combined. Divide the cake batter into two halves with parchment-lined sides. Bake at 325F for 35-40 minutes.

Once the cake is thoroughly chilled, trim the top of the cake for frosting and assembling. Sift plain flour for a smoother cake batter. Always check the expiry date before using baking powder otherwise the cake will not be baked. Yubi has a very unique taste and doesn’t taste like anything else, so it’s something unique that you can really make for yourself. Place one cake on a serving plate, and spread 1/3 of the frosting evenly over the top. Place the second cake on top and spread the remaining frosting on top and around.

1 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour.2 2 tbsp baking powder as needed.3 ½ teaspoon of salt.4 ¼ cups cornstarch as needed 5 ½ cups unsalted and softened butter as needed 6 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar as needed 7 1 tablespoon Ube to taste.8 ¼ cup vegetable oil.9 ⅓ cup Ube Puree rehydrated or fresh 10 5 eggs.11 2 cups buttermilk as required.
